Developed by A.S.I as a response to the ASC- 3 Dragon developed by rival manufacturer J.H.I, The ASC-5 Needlenose debuted a machine capable of travelling speeds no living human pilot could withstand in a dogfight. While the Needlenose excelled in speed, it sacrificed much ammunition storage space for fuel reserves to sustain its capabilities. Where it could reliably deliver a smart munition from point A to B in x amount of time, such capabilities were an opportunity cost in expenses to the extent certain round-spitting weapon systems; which would've worked on a different aerial platform, wasn't feasible. This limitation restricted countermeasures against intercepting fighter craft and drones alike.
